The Telangana Mahalakshmi scheme was launched by Congress party in its election manifesto 2023.

The Mahalakshmi scheme Telanagana is a maternity benefit scheme launched by the Telangana government in September 2023. It aims to empower women and provide them access to public transportation.

Under the scheme, all women above the age of 18 years can travel for free in all buses of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC).The scheme includes women, girls, transgenders, and widows.

there were indeed six guarantee schemes initially announced by the Telangana government under the “Praja Palana” program. However, one of them, Yuva Vikasam, hasn’t been officially launched yet. The application process for the remaining five schemes ran from December 28, 2023, to January 6, 2024.

1. Mahalakshmi Scheme: This scheme aims to empower women by providing financial assistance of Rs 2,500 per month to women aged between 18 and 55 years belonging to families with an annual income of less than Rs 6 lakh.

2. Rythu Bharosa Scheme: This scheme focuses on supporting farmers and agricultural laborers. It provides Rs 15,000 per acre per year to all farmers, including tenant farmers, Rs 500 bonus per quintal of paddy procured by the government, and Rs 12,000 per year to agricultural laborers.

3. Gruha Jyothi Scheme: This scheme aims to reduce the electricity burden on households and improve their quality of life by providing 200 units of free electricity per month to all households.

4. Indiramma Indlu Scheme: This scheme ensures that everyone has access to safe and affordable housing by offering a plot of land and Rs 5 lakh for construction to those who do not own a house.

5. Cheyutha Scheme: This scheme provides financial support and improves the lives of vulnerable groups like senior citizens, widows, single women, disabled persons, beedi workers, toddy tappers, and weavers by offering a monthly pension of Rs 4,000 and health insurance coverage of Rs 10 lakh under the Rajiv Arogyasri scheme.

It’s important to note that while the application period for these schemes has closed, the Telangana government is still working on implementing them. The benefits are expected to start being distributed soon.

As for Yuva Vikasam, this scheme, focusing on youth development, still awaits its official launch. It promises two lakh government jobs for the youth besides a monthly allowance to unemployed individuals. We’ll keep an eye out for updates on its launch and keep you informed.
